In Ancient Rome, the Evocatus were discharged men that returned to service, originally they were their own units, but after the marian reforms were re-organised into the standard legion structure.

However in ancient Atlantis, the Evocati were typically middle-class citizen led by lowly noblemen sworn into a specialist anti-infantry unit, wielding Greatswords, the Evocati could swing, pierce and strike enemies and their armour effectively, though attacked slowly because of the weight of their swords. Some moblemen however could afford or inherit orichalkos greatswords from their fathers, dipping their greatswords in the sea, which allowed otherwise heavy weapons to become light, and even more effective.
